History of the Club

The Capital Club was the first private business Club to open in China in 1994. As the most prestigious club in Beijing, it has earned its place as the venue of choice for encouraging and enhancing Chinese and international commerce and industry. The Club provides a relaxed locale that encourages mutual understanding and trust among Club Members, their guests and associates. It is also well known among Beijing’s high society for it exclusive parties and grand social gatherings.

The Club was founded as a joint venture between China International Trust Investment Company (CITIC) and ClubCorp Inc.  CITIC is a Chinese state-owned investment company, established in 1979, which owns 44 subsidiaries (mainly banks) in mainland China, Hong Kong, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. ClubCorp Inc. is a US company recognized as the world’s leading developer and manager of private clubs. Since 1957, ClubCorp has developed, managed and operated more than 200 private business, golf, and country clubs.

Since its opening, the Capital Club has earned its place in the Beijing community as the premier International business club, due to its prime central location close to the embassy areas and the airport expressway, and of course the spectacular 360 degree view from the 50^th floor, where you can see the stunning views of the Beijing Olympics National Stadium (Birds Nest) and the National Swimming Stadium (Water Cube). On a clear day, you can catch a glimpse of the Great Wall snaking across the hills in the distance.

The Capital Club has a membership of over 1,000 of Beijing’s top international and local business leaders and dignitaries. Our Club Membership is made up of 50 percent of Chinese nationals and the remaining 50 percent from countries across the globe. These members include many Chinese CEO’s from some of the top Fortune 500 companies, as well as graduates from top international business schools such as Yale, Harvard and Stanford, entrepreneurs, Ambassadors and international jet setters.
